The mysteries surrounding private investigator LADY MECHANIKA and her origin begin to unfold as she heads to a rundown city known as Satan’s Alley. Located on the lower eastside, it is an area of town under siege by the presence of a murderous creature of unknown origin. While a weapons manufacturer has issued a reward for the unknown slayer, drawing a crowd of bounty hunters looking to cash in, Lady Mechanika’s purpose is far more personal – information that could lead to the truth about her creation.
The cover and premise of this comic absolutely blew me away. First the main female character was wearing clothes! I mean actual clothes and she got weapons. Not wimpy weapons either but kick ass weapons, ah I comic book I could dive into and not roll my eyes at the blatant over sexualization of the female character. A woman can be sexy in a comic and still have on clothes.
The approach to this was absolutely amazing. The plot and the artwork blew me away. I have to say I honestly wasn’t expecting so much love to come from just the issue zero of this and it was free. However, to anyone who enjoys steampunk and comics and kickass females, just plan on buying the whole series now. You won’t want to wait while the others download once you finished this one. Lady Mechanika is a take no bullshit lady that speaks her minds and defends whats ideals she hold dear. The story-line of this and how it flows is perfect. I never found myself drifting off the comic and thinking of other things. It held my attention from start to end.
Even if you have never picked up a comic before, I suggest this one for you.
